About this piece
back to topA 19th century large scale Neoclassical fire surround.
Handcrafted circa 1880 in the Georgian/Neoclassical style, presented in a stripped finish.
This large scale fireplace has a multiple layers of detail, resembling a marble fire surround of which it may be based on.
The jambs incorporate a dog-leg design that has been filled in to square off the opening. The frieze has an intricately carved scene of Putti sat in woodland with bountiful trees and urns of cut flowers.
The centrepiece is flanked with deep carved foliage supporting a band of egg and dart moulding below the mantle.
