About this piece

A pair of oil paintings depicting heraldic family coats of arms.

Presented in ornate gilt frames, these crests have possible links to Spanish families.

On the left, a vibrant and detailed scene which contains a narrative. A central shield is surrounded with pink and blue flowing scrolls. The scene inside appears to be some kind of boar stood before a tree with a man to the side. Three heart shaped fruits run across the top edge. Topped with a knights helm, the scene continues above into a grassy hill with an animals head.

On the right, a more traditional example of heraldry shows rampant lions and crosses. The shield is topped with a knights helm bearing the number eight around the neck.

Both paintings are bordered in a rich green with a golden ribbon running throughout.

The gilt frames are made up of raised crescent and circular repeating patterns in high relief.
