About this piece
back to topA large scale oil on canvas painting depicting a landscape of desert ruins, signed ‘Mautelli’ to the lower right hand corner.
Beautifully bordered with an ornate, deep, gilded frame, this artwork will make an eye-catching focal point on an interior wall. The subject captures a desert landscape depicting arched building ruins to the foreground and a fortified city in the distance.
The painting is finely detailed, the artist telling the story of the old world and the new. The forgotten sandstone-coloured ruins begin to be taken back by the natural world, sitting in the shadow of the new white-stone city beyond.
Though little is known about the artist, we have another signed painting of a similar theme in the artist’s name.
