A huge, impressive scale oil on canvas painting depicting a section of temple ruins in the desert, signed ‘Mautelli’ to the lower right hand corner.

Beautifully bordered with an ornate, gilded frame, this monumental scale artwork will make an exceptional focal point on an interior wall. The subject captures an unknown desert landscape depicting a series of sandstone-coloured column ruins before a misty blue sky with further ruins beyond.

The painting is finely detailed, the artist telling the story of a community of figures within the scene. Perhaps they live nearby in the surrounding camp set up to the left. Or maybe they are travellers using the ruins as a place to rest their camels beside the river before their onward journey.
