About this piece
back to topA 19th century view of the Molo, Venice oil on canvas after Canaletto (1697-1768).
This vedute of a Venice scene depicts a view of the Molo in Venice looking towards the Zecca (the former mint) and the entrance to the Grand Canal.
Presented in a large scale with an ornate gilt frame, the bustling scene is filled with ships and traders.
The scene looks out from under a building on the waterfront, rather than looking inwards like well known scenes by Canaletto or Francesco Guardi.
