This highly detailed yet not fully realised work by British impressionist James H. Morton is pencil finished in charcoal. Other mediums Morton was known for were pastels and oil paints, with which he captured coastal scenes and portraits.
The unidentified male could be either Epaminondas, a Greek general, Paris of Troy, or possibly the Roman emperor Hadrian.
Framed in a light oak with gilt internal edge.
