This highly detailed fire surround dates back to circa 1770. The jambs are fronted with two finely carved columns, topped with ionic capitals.

A delicate foliate pattern borders the opening, painted in a deep green with gilt highlights.

A highly unusual tassel carving presented in a dental pattern lines the underside of the shelf, which is edged with beading and scrollwork patterns.
