About this piece
back to topA pair of intricate 18th century Italian Grand Tour wall hangings depicting profile portrait busts of four famous Italian poets from history: Dante Alighieri (1265-1321), Francesco Petrarca (1304-1374), Ludovico Ariosto (1474-1533) and Torquato Tasso (1544-1595).
Finely handcarved, these decorative wall plaques are handsome pieces of Italian renaissance inspired interest, fitted with hooks ready for wall hanging in an interior. Each poet is dressed in neoclassical attire with a laurel wreath headdress and their name inscribed to each corner.
