About this piece

‘In Motion’ is an interesting and unusual mosaic plaster cast sculpture capturing the lower abdomen, hips and upper legs of a figure by British contemporary artist, Jim Cooper.

Marked with artist monogram to the top, this lifesize fragment of the human body is depicted one leg in front of the other as if in motion, creating a sense of movement. The choice of varying blue mosaic tiles creates a rather mesmerising effect, matching another upper portion of a figure that we are selling under Stock No. 38460, perhaps cast from the same person.

Freestanding, this artwork piece will make a striking figurative sculpture for an interior, best suited to a contemporary gallery or modern collector.

While not much is known about the artist, Cooper’s works are distinguishable at first glance, capturing the human form in various poses across many mediums. We recently acquired several pieces from the studio of Jim Cooper which can be found in their own exclusive collection on our website here.
