The flowing forms draw from the works of Constantin Brâncuși and Jean Arp, with abstract shapes that encapsulate the modernism movement.
Two of the three shapes are crudely signed ‘Wells 70’.
Donald Wells (1929-2014)
Donald Wells (AKA Don Wells) was born in Silverdale, Staffordshire in 1929. He studied under artist Jack Clarkson at Newcastle under Lyme school of Art, before a permanent relocation to London in 1960, with his first solo exhibition following shortly after at the Artists’ International Association gallery (AIA).
His mixed media works included sculpture, paintings and print-making – all of which have been exhibited internationally.
