About this piece
back to topA pair of 19th century Victorian hand carved floral oak panels.
Carved with exceptional detail and skill, these symmetrical panels combine complex geometric foliage with floral motifs.
Dated to circa 1820, the panels are carved from English oak. The smooth, precise lines resemble a church window with the intricate leaves laced throughout.
Each panel has slight differences, with the flowers in alternating convex and concave patterns. Placed left to right, the panels evoke the passing of time through seasons, as the floral centre begins to bloom.
