About this piece
back to topA late 19th century neoclassical stained glass window detailing a figure emblematic of the arts, one of four similar windows we are selling.
Dressed in robes, the female figure could represent Urania, Greek Muse of astronomy and celestial poetry. Urania is often depicted with a globe and in this window stands before a globe with a compass and scroll in hand.
The central handpainted panel is surrounded by an array of plain yellow, red and blue glass panes in the same manner as the other panels we are selling. Together they would make a complementary and colourful set.
