About this piece
back to topA 19th century hand carved English oak wall panel.
Dated to the 1850s, many hours of skilled work have gone into the creation of this piece. Originally this may have been from the headboard of a tester bed or panelling from a vestry.
Three framed panels make up this ornate piece. Large cartwheel carvings resembling sunflowers bloom into coiling foliage. A fanned plume opens under an archway which surrounds the mirrored scenes.
The floral centrepiece snakes upwards with leaves and flowers, culminating in another cartwheel.
