back to topA small late 19th century leaded glass window of German origin depicting a boat at sea in an earlier 13th century medieval style.
Possibly a copy of a medieval work, the glass sees a woman in a medieval hooded cloak standing onboard a boat, her gaze turned to the water. Her index finger touches or points to the water’s surface below, beneath which two mythical figures battle with swords, clubs and shields. The woman is joined by three blonde haired children on the ship: one on the ropes, another standing at the front and the other just peeking out from the crow’s nest!
Though small in design, the level of detail in this stained glass scene is exceptional, telling the story of medieval venturers and ancient mythology.
