Supplied loose, this group contains four identical Godwin tiles with a fleur-de-lis design and partial border that work as a beautiful set when placed together.
Similar examples can be found in the V&A Museum, London.
Godwin Tiles
William Godwin began manufacturing quarry tiles, bricks and drainpipes at his factory in Lugwardine, Herefordshire in 1851. In later years, William went into partnership with his son and traded as ‘Godwin & Co’, a name that would become reputable until long after William’s death in 1925.
