back to topA unique pair of Jacobean English oak lion corbels dating back to the 16th/17th century.
This large scale pair of bold and characterful ferocious lions stand at over a metre tall, previously of a larger piece evidenced by the many fixing holes left after hundreds of years of use.
Carved in high relief, these fierce lions have large clawed feet stood on blocks. The flowing chest of the lion resembles a large acanthus leaf. The mane fans out below the open mouth, which bares a row of large teeth.
The top has the forming of a corbel behind the head of each lion, ready to form an impressive shelf or remain as freestanding objects.
