About this piece
back to topA large and richly decorated 18th century English breakfront carved pine fire surround, originally from Hambledon House, North Yorkshire (pictured).
We believe the carving to be 18th century, with the structure altered and added to around 1900.
This beautiful antique fireplace is highly decorative, detailed with exceptionally carved scrolling foliage to the jambs, floral paterae end blocks and a neoclassical frieze tablet carved with putti. Other features include dentils, egg and dart and a pronounced dog leg opening.
Its fine detail and large scale will sit in pride of place in any property seeking grandeur and classical elegance.
