An Italian renaissance style carved marble lion, possibly from as early as the late 17th / early 18th century. This antique lion sculpture has a distinctive look, carved in a lying position into statuary white marble with a flowing mane, sharp claws and, most notably, an unusual facial expression. More than 300 years old, the detail on this antique lion sculpture is outstanding, the finely carved details having preserved over the centuries.
