About this piece
back to topAn original English Georgian hand-carved pine fireplace dating from circa 1760. Having stood the test of time for more than 260 years, this antique fireplace is a highly decorative feature of an interior today.
It’s craftsmanship is exceptional, the shaped frieze deeply hand-carved with an eagle with wings raised to the centre among an abundance of fruits, foliage and pomegranates, below dentils and egg and dart below the shelf. Further elegance is added to the surround with its slender jambs and defined dog leg opening.
A truly beautiful chimneypiece, not only for Georgian era properties, but any homeowner with an appreciation for fine craftsmanship and remarkable hand-carved elements.
