About this piece
back to topA mid-18th century framed painted portrait of a boy on board from the circle of English artist, Sir Joshua Reynolds (1723-1792). Specialising in portraits, Reynolds is highly regarded as one of the leading painters of the 18th century, with various works in London museums including The National Gallery and the Tate Britain.
Using oils, the painter captures the portrait of a young boy, his head tilted to the side with a shy, smiling expression and locks of brown hair falling over his brow.
Skilfully painted to create a sense of depth and expression, this antique oil painting’s deep colours are complemented by a dark frame with gilt inner border. You can just imagine it on the walls of a period property, bringing interest to a reception room, hallway or study.
