About this piece
back to topA large antique buff terracotta garden urn by J. M. Blashfield (unsigned) circa 1860. This huge urn is of impressive scale, standing out as the centrepiece of a garden or courtyard! This antique terracotta urn features in the 1857 Blashfield catalogue (pictured) and is of classic style with a plain, tapering body above a gadrooned base and turned socle. The handles are what separates this antique garden urn from the rest, each formed of an elongated, arching cross identical to that pictured in the Blashfield catalogue.
Provenance
This urn is believed to have originally been situated in the grounds of Nash House, Tenby. The house was designed by British Georgian era architect, John Nash (1752-1835).
