About this piece
back to topAn antique buff terracotta statue depicting a Renaissance figure possibly by Blanchard. We are also selling a group of 3 similar figures as well as a large group of 10 similar figures.
An antique of English history, this statue dates from circa 1880. It is exquisitely detailed and has a beautiful buff terracotta colour that makes for a striking statement piece in any garden or interior.
This statue is identical to some of those that once resided in the Turkish Baths of London’s Imperial Hotel on Russell Square. The hotel was designed by architect Charles Fitzroy Doll (1850-1929) and demolished in 1966. To this day, the statues still reside on the site of the once hotel, lining the entrance to the underground car-park.
Blue plinth not included.
