About this piece

An antique George III style Neoclassical statutory marble fireplace. This late 19th century fireplace was removed from a house in Jersey, and would certainly make for a statement piece inside the main or reception room of a stately home or period townhouse alike. Dating to circa 1860, it has carved urn end blocks and a corbel protruding from the jambs. An urn also features on a centre tablet, with bows flowing out from both sides.

Statuary marble is a purely elegant Italian white marble. From powder rooms to lobbies, statuary is commonly used for luxurious and timeless interior items.

The original grate is made from cast iron. Its front features two women in togas leaning on columns, while foliage climbs the outer sides.

The fireplace and grate can be sold together or separately.
