An impressive, large scale George III carved wooden chimneypiece, circa 1800. This spectacular antique fire surround is beautifully handcarved throughout, featuring acanthus leaf and dentils across a fluted pediment, above a deeply carved frieze of scrolling foliage, decorated with birds, spiral and leaf decoration.

For a final touch of grandeur, the jambs are cleverly carved into the form of twisting columns with vine and berry decoration.
