About this piece
back to topA 19th century stained glass panel depicting The Ascension of Jesus Christ
This highly detailed scene is crafted with fine leadwork and vivid, colourful glass. The panel is split into two scenes with details painted over the glass.
The top panel shows a winged angel with hands crossed over the chest. The wings are a mix of blues and yellows, painted over with delicate feathers.
Below, Jesus is elevated above his devoted disciples gaze upwards in reverence, and sorrow as they witness his departure.
This panel is one of a series of seven that we have available by the same unknown artist, but reclaimed from the same location.
