A 19th century stained glass panel depicting the resurrection of Jesus.

This highly detailed scene is crafted with fine leadwork and vivid, colourful glass. The panel is split into two scenes with details painted over the glass.

The top panel shows the resurrection of Jesus. Walking between slumbering Roman guards, Christ stands triumphantly with a banner and cruciform staff, holding the resurrection banner symbolising victory over death.

Below shows figures including apostles and Mary Magdalene carefully tend to the body of Jesus.

Along the bottom edge of the panel runs the text: “By thy precious death and burial; by thy glorious resurrection and ascension” A quote from the suffrages of the Litany found in the Book of Common Prayer.

This panel is one of a series of seven that we have available by the same unknown artist, but reclaimed from the same location.
