About this piece

Once used as roof ridge tiles, this 10-piece set of architectural stonework makes a handsome feature in a scenic country garden, useable as coping for a low garden wall or as ornamental statuary. Originating from Scotland, the set comprises of 5 plain sandstone pieces alongside 3 sections with stylistic finials shaped like thistles and a further 2 shaped with pomegranate finials.

Carved by hand, these reclaimed decorative ridge tiles date from the late 19th century and are in excellent condition with details of the pomegranates and thistles preserved for more than 140 years. While they can be used as a decorative feature along a garden wall as coping or capping, their beautiful, time-worn weathering make for handsome garden ornaments. As such, they can be used to frame a flowerbed, pathway or pond or even placed among a courtyard as decorative ornaments.
