About this piece
back to topA 19th century Victorian mahogany fire surround.
Dating back to circa 1870, this piece is presented in its original French polish finish. The jambs are decorated with high relief pilasters, embellished with Tudor roses. Above, a run of fielded pyramid carvings lead into a contrasting curved design.
Hidden within are intricately carved leaves which break up the pattern on each raised corner and in the centre. A precise dental carving runs along the underside of the deep mantel.
This fire surround blends multiple styles and techniques, making it suited for many different types of property.
