back to topA large late 18th / early 19th century buff terracotta round patera wall plaque attributed to Coade, circa 1800. Though this decorative exterior plaque is not marked with a maker’s name, it is typical of Coade works with its intricate sculpting and neutral stone colour.
This antique wall plaque would’ve originally been used as an architectural decoration, possibly to the facade of a building or as an ornamentation on a ceiling. Finely sculpted, the plaque is Georgian in style and typical of Coade stone paterae. It features a large central flower within a round bead border.Â
While lightly weathered, the handcrafted details of the plaque remain intact, making a beautiful decorative feature of a garden wall in the 21st century home.
