Crafted in Italy circa 1870, this bronze roundel depicts the Virgin Mary holding Jesus, with a young Saint John the Baptist in the background.
The roundel is presented inside an intricate frame of bountiful foliage with crops and fruits. The piece is highly detailed and has many prominent details embellished from the original, including a chair back in the foreground and a cross to the right of the frame.
The original painting, often replicated in small scale or oil paint, was crafted circa 1513–1514 by Italian renaissance artist Raphael. The original is housed at Palazzo Pitti in Florence.
