About this piece
back to topA magnificent set of 2 aged limestone planters dating from the early 1830s. They are a very near pair with a large scale, differing in height by only a few centimetres (see below for exact dimensions of each). Made in limestone, these antique trough planters are handcrafted with beautifully formed gadrooned detailing and short sweeping pedestal bases. But what makes these planters particularly handsome is the surface weathering. Only exposure to the elements over hundreds of years can such a patina of weathering be achieved. They look beautiful placed in an English country garden or period townhouse courtyard planted with an abundance of flowers.
