About this piece

A Stained Glass Window Depicting Francis Bacon.

This large leaded glass panel with diamond shaped glass is centred with a roundel of Francis Bacon in the centre. Francis Bacon was an influential 17th-century English philosopher and pioneer of the scientific method.

This piece is painted with a high level of detail, down to the delicate flowers around the collar. The glass is made up of mostly deep purples with a blue name plate that catches the eye. This panel was situated in W.H Smiths of Worcester. W.H.Smith – W. H. Smith was an iconic British newsagent founded in the 18th century. The shops found in most UK high streets often had large awnings dressed with stained glass such as this and the others we have available depicting literary figures.

Supplied in a temporary pinewood frame for transit and storage.
