Hill & Smith

A stamp reading ‘Hill and Smith, Brierly Hill’ tells us that these gates and posts were made by Hill and Smith of Brierly Hill, established in 1824. The company still exists today under the name Hill and Smith Holdings making modern items such as road barriers and infrastructure, however their early works included items such as hurdles, fencing and gates like this one which has stood the test of time from the late 19th century.
