Each matched frame houses a 6-inch clay tile and is fixed with wire to the back ready for hanging on an interior wall in any desired arrangement.
The frames leave the reverse side of the tiles visible so that any makers marks can are viewable from the back. Though some are unidentified, some have labels or makers names to the back and are identified as being by historic English tile makers including Minton Hollins, Doulton & Co, Pilkington, Sherwin & Cotton and Lee of Tunstall. Another is stamped ‘L. T. England’.
