About this piece
back to topA beautiful collection of three large cabinet mineral specimens including amethyst, blue celestite and limonite quartz presented on our medium painted plaster bases. Together, these specimens form a vibrant collection for display, showcasing beautiful colours and shapes formed by nature over millions of years. More details on the individual specimens below:
A: Limonite Quartz plate specimen from Solwezi, Zambia
The golden orange-yellow colour of this spectacular crystal specimen is intense and vibrant. In rare instances, limonite occurs alongside quartz, creating striking specimens with a permanent colour. These specimens are found in complex vug-like chambers in a host matrix.
B: Amethyst Vug Geode from Mumbwe, Zambia
A complex vug amethyst specimen with lots of large crystals and a variable intensity of purple colour throughout. Sourced from Mumbwe, Kolomo region, Zambia.
C: Blue Celestite specimen from Sakoany, Madagascar.
Named for its delicate pale sky-blue colour, blue celestite minerals from Madagascar are considered some of the finest. It is said that the Sakoany deposits of Madagascan celestite were first discovered by a cattle herder who found crystals on the shore of the bay.
