About this piece
back to topA set of 19th century hand carved allegorical figures, possibly depicting the four seasons.
Each statue is finely carved in the grand tour style, made from a continental softwood and raised on ebonized bases. They are accompanied by attributes characteristic of their season, such as a fish or wheat sheaf, and each holds a removable tool – although two appear to be missing.
