Salvatore Melani (1902–1934)

Born in Florence, Italy, Melani studied classical technique at the prestigious Academy of Fine Arts in Florence. Moving to Paris in the 1920’s on the tail of the emerging Art Deco movement, Melani stood out with his Italian foundations and avant-garde French styling.

With a talent for capturing dynamic and fluid motion in his statutory models, Melani has become a sought after name in collections. Unfortunately his life was tragically short, and lost to the interwar period of European history.
