A reclaimed bronze armillary sun dial on a 19th century English limestone column.

Dating to the late 20th century, this large scale armillary sundial would make a striking centrepiece to a garden, pond or patio. Hand made from bronze, the metalwork has natural patina and has verdigris tints throughout. The sphere has markings for the distance to Cape town, Perth, Chicago, Caracas, and Tokyo. The armillary is marked with the latitudes north 51.38.23 and west 001.32.45 on inside of the base. The motto “M’import quelle pour les amis” is also inscribed in the bronze.

Presented on a 19th century English limestone column with ionic carvings. The column adds an impressive height to the sun dial making it stand over two meters high. Carved to the front face only, the piece would suit a location at the end of a garden.
