Varying from life-size to over life-size, these antique busts each depict a notable classical figure from history, with the title of the each subject handpainted in impactful gold print to the front. The figures include:
Virgil (Virgilius)
Augustan period ancient Roman poet known for three of the most famous poems in Latin literature: the Georgics, the Eclogues and Rome’s epic poem, the Aeneid.
Hippocrates (Hippocrate)
Ancient Greek philosopher and physician referred to as the ‘Father of Medicine’ as the first person to believe that diseases are caused naturally, rather than by Gods or superstition.
Homer (Homère)
Legendary ancient Greek poet and author who is credited to have written two of ancient Greece’s most epic poems: the Odyssey and the Iliad.
Cicero (Cicéron)
Known for his powerful public speeches and translation of Greek philosophical concepts into Latin, Roman statesman, scholar and orator, Marcus Tullius Cicero fought to preserve the Roman Republic before it became the Roman Empire.
