About this piece
back to topDecorated with a striking patinated finish, this unusual oriental fireplace dates from the late 19th / early 20thcenturies. Made in bronze, it originates from England but has a distinctly oriental design, detailed with a variety of Asian-inspired motifs. Flames decorate the base of the jambs while a pair of ornate dragons detail the mantel between a central geometric medallion resembling the Chinese symbol for longevity. It is a unique shape with pointed mantel ends similar to a pagoda, making a beautiful fire surround for a Chinoiserie interior or those inspired by oriental influences.
