About this piece
back to topThis spectacular pair of neoclassical style antique sandstone garden urns were sourced from an estate in the west of Scotland. They are one set of various sandstone urns we are selling from the same location. These urn finials are thought to date earlier than the rest, circa 1800.
Both decorative stone urns are of a large and impressive scale, making spectacular statuary in a prestigious garden. Distinctly neoclassical in style, they are of a matching design, hand carved with anthemion to the neck above a tapered body carved with a lattice of flaming torches in high relief and finally elevated on fluted socle bases. You can imagine these spectacular sandstone urns as a striking feature in a countryside estate, used as finials for a gate, stairway or entrance or as a focal point of a historic courtyard.
