About this piece

An impressive pair of English neoclassical style Portland limestone column pedestals dating to circa 1800. Suitable for use as display plinths or simply architectural features, these 220-year-old late Georgian stone columns are evocative of the great architecture found in Rome and Greece during the height of the neoclassical era.

Each antique column is a half round, classically carved with fluting to create a matching pair. Both pedestals have a cream stone colour typical of the Portland variety, with grey-brown weathering in places that only adds to their unique beauty. Suitable for use indoors and out, they could be used together as interior plinths to display a pair of busts, statues, vases or similar, or placed outside in a garden as a neoclassical feature.

We are also selling other sets of limestone column pedestals in a similar style.
