About this piece
back to topA pair of large antique Italian ecclesiastical walnut sculptures later mounted on bespoke oak plinths dating to circa 1800.
In an impressive large scale, these musical figures offer a sense of movement as one plays a flute and the other a mandolin; their characterful expressions and dynamic profiles allow them to offer a sense of realism, almost like they will come to life at any minute.
Their appealing distressed look from the time worn polychrome finish compliments their detailed characteristics, from their hair to their robes.
Together they would look impressive either side of a doorway or arch, acting as though they are waiting to perform.
