About this piece
back to topA large and impressive pair of fine antique Italian marble tazza urns circa 1830.
Highly ornate, each handcrafted Carrara marble urn is of a matching design, oval in form with a gadrooned border, the ends carved with with bacchic satyr masks, and the centre with lion heads with fruiting swags between. Elevated by circular socles with square bases, these urns are perfect for display, their spectacular form and intricate craftsmanship a work of art.
Beautifully carved into Carrara, these antique urns are more than 190 years old and showcase incredible levels of detail, aged only by timeworn wear to the marble’s natural white tone and minor losses. It is rare to find a single urn as old as this with carving so clear and distinctive, and rarer still to find a matching pair.
