About this piece
back to topImpressive in design and scale, this pair of large antique cast iron urns make a striking pairing either side of a garden passageway or as display objects in a luxurious hallway. Circa 1890 and possibly of French origin, these spectacular urns are solid, heavy and well-crafted, cast in iron and finished in red primer.
Matching, each antique urn is elaborately designed with a pair of scrolling handles, both sides of the urn body depicting a pair of snakes with forked tongues projected towards a bird and nest among leaves and foliage. The socle bases are just as ornately designed, elevating each urn above a rectangular base.
