About this piece
back to topCorbels are conventionally used as an architectural fixture. However, this pair of antique corbels are simply too beautiful to be mounted to a wall or ceiling. Instead, they have been brought to life on bespoke steel stands and repurposed as sculpture, allowing the intricacy of their design to be observed and enjoyed up close on a column, table or shelf. Dating from the late 19th century, these large corbels are made in terracotta and moulded with floral roundels and acanthus leaves. They can be used as part of a traditional scheme to complement the age-old features of a property or placed within a more modern space to create a sense of intrigue and historical interest.
