About this piece
back to topA Georgian wrought iron fire grate originating from 1780s England. Beautifully preserved for more than 200 years, this antique fire basket is of top quality, hardly used and finished with a smart black graphite finish. With its simple and streamline design, it suits a range of settings, from Georgian country kitchens to quaint English cottages.
Made in wrought iron at the hand of a talented 18th century blacksmith, this fire grate is ornamented with a pair of small urn finials to the top – classically seen on fire baskets of this era. At the front, the top horizontal bar tilts down by a sophisticated mechanism to create a flat ledge.
