About this piece

A Georgian wrought iron fire grate originating from 1780s England. Beautifully preserved for more than 200 years, this antique fire basket is of top quality, hardly used and finished with a smart black graphite finish. With its simple and streamline design, it suits a range of settings, from Georgian country kitchens to quaint English cottages.

Made in wrought iron at the hand of a talented 18th century blacksmith, this fire grate is ornamented with a pair of small urn finials to the top – classically seen on fire baskets of this era. At the front, the top horizontal bar tilts down by a sophisticated mechanism to create a flat ledge.
