About this piece
back to topA large, thousands of years old natural cave stalagmite specimen, ex. London Gallery, mounted on a granite base. Originating from a cave in China, this specimen is an excellent example of the stalagmite, with a defined, uniform shape and unique texture, naturally formed over the centuries. This striking specimen is mounted on a granite base, ready for display in a collector’s cabinet or on a shelf or plinth.
Stalagmite Specimens
Stalagmites are naturally formed deposits of various minerals created by dripping water over thousands of years. From the cave floor comes the stalagmite, an upward growing mound of mineral deposit with a rounded tip (not to be confused with the icicle-like stalactite which is formed on the ceiling of a cave!).
