About this piece
back to topA large antique English carved oak fire surround dating to around 1860, utilising earlier, possibly 16th and 17th century parts. This fire surround was reclaimed from a property in Malvern, Worcestershire.
Ornately carved, this antique oak fireplace has a beautiful rich wood colour that will make a handsome feature of traditional country cottages and period style townhouses alike. The frieze is most decorative, carved with corbels, foliage and masks of winged putti, paired with elaborately carved column-style jambs, and large scrolls around the opening.
Beautifully crafted, it is a fireplace of fine carving and handsome solid oak to suit many a property.
