About this piece
back to topA very large, heavy and substantial 19th century arts and crafts period oak fireplace standing at over 2.2m tall (7ft).
Design features of this impressive antique fire surround include a geometric overmantel frieze ornamented with arts and crafts details. More unusually to the centre is an architectural column model with curvature to the top creating a niche at the centre of the design.
The curves of the top are reflected in the opening below which forms a pleasing arched shape beneath which you can imagine a great fireplace or firegrate, drawing attention to the heart of the home.
With it’s appealing stripped oak finish, this antique fire surround will make a spectacular statement in interiors of many ages and styles, complementing neutral colours as well as period features.
